Thomas Walter Manson (1893-1958), biblical scholar, was born at North Shields, Northumberland, on 22 July 1893. He was educated at Tynemouth Municipal High School and Glasgow University before attending Westminster College and Christ's College, Cambridge, where he studied oriental languages.
